Gemini

When Gemini is launched next year, its 145-foot length and 174-foot carbon rig will make it the largest sailing catamaran ever built. Designed by the noted French firm Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost, Gemini is being built in aluminum at the Derecktor yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The yacht’s three main decks are topped by a large flying bridge that features dual helm stations, a sundeck, Jacuzzi, barbeque, and an al fresco dining area. On the main deck there’s space for more private dining, plus a lounge and private terrace.

Belowdecks, the five guest cabins all have ensuite heads, and there’s an impressive 322-square-foot owner’s suite. The main galley and accommodations for a crew of eight are housed in the starboard hull. A 28-foot dive boat along with a 15-foot ski boat can be launched through a side door in the hull. The yacht, which will be available for charter, will carry air-conditioning and desalination systems weighing 40 tons. And if there’s not enough wind to get the charter party home in time under sail, 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel will do the job nicely.
