Rosehearty

This Ron Holland–designed 183-foot ketch was launched earlier this year at the Perini Navi yard in Viareggio, Italy. Built in aluminum, the yacht has a ballast lifting keel that retracts into a shoal-draft fixed keel (which is also ballasted). The masts are aluminum, while the booms, with in-boom furling systems, are carbon fiber. Both booms were engineered and built at Perini Navi’s new autoclave facility. In northerly winds of 18 to 20 knots off Punta Bianca, Rosehearty’s speeds and heeling angle matched those predicted by computer programs and test-tank data.
