At the upcoming Trawlerfest Baltimore, set for Sept. 29-Oct. 3, veteran mariners Rudy and Jill Sechez will look at the ins and outs of cruising or transiting the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) as part of the show’s seminar series.
Specific topics will include distinguishing ICW aids to navigation from regular nav aids; making the most of range markers; keys and tricks when using ICW charts; negotiating channels; tips for avoiding shoals; visual clues to water depths and determining distances by sight; the various ways to appropriately signal bridges and locks for openings; understanding railroad bridges; docking and anchoring, and more.
