Narragansett Bay is an ideal charter locale, but it’s also my home port. So when I found myself planning a charter out of nearby Bristol, I wasn’t expecting any surprises.

We’d been watching the weather all week and couldn’t have been more pleased. Not only was the sun out, it was downright hot as we checked out our Bavaria 32 at the Horizon Yacht Charters base in the Yacht Haven Marina in Eastport, Annapolis.

There aremany Caribbean islands that are just off the beaten path and are readily accessible for bareboaters looking for adventure, for something different or just to break out of the rut. Here’s a look at five islands you never knew you always wanted to visit.

Energy and excitement crackled in the rigging around us as we prepared to set sail on the shimmering Adriatic Sea. We, a group of 31 adventurous Canadian sailors, were setting out in a charter flotilla to explore the beautiful islands of Croatia.
