If a kind of elegant simplicity is an integral part of good design, then it would be hard to find a better example of excellence than Ino-Rope’s Ino Ending 3.6. An evolution of the Ino-Block, in which a short loop of HMPE line takes the place of a conventional axle, or pin, the Ino-Ending takes the concept a step further by having the Dyneema line to which the block is attached, or spliced, take the place of the pin, so that the entire program is comprised of just three parts—an aluminum sheave, a composite spacer (the rough equivalent of a conventional block’s cheeks) and the rope itself. Weighing in at just 2oz, the Ino-Ending boasts a 3.6-ton breaking strength and is rated for loads up to 1.2 tons, thereby providing a safety factor of three. Its simplicity and materials also make it corrosion-free and easy as pie to maintain, while the lack of shackles and other moving parts, in addition to making it lighter, means fewer things to fail.
