Dehler Buys ETAP
Germany’s Dehler Yachts has acquired Belgian boatbuilder ETAP Yachting. It seems an unlikely marriage, with Dehler building lightweight, fast cruiser-racers, and ETAP specializing in unsinkable cruising boats, but the move gives the companies greater purchasing, sales and marketing power. It follows the purchase two months ago of a stake in Dehler by Buchanan Capital Investments. Trade magazine IBI quoted Buchanan’s Peter Blumenwitz as saying: “We want to create a powerful network of small, boutique shipyards – with the network producing up to 500 high-end boats annually.”
