Fourteen-year-old Dutch sailor Laura Dekker received permission after a court ruling on July 27 to embark on her dream of becoming the youngest person to sail solo around the world—meaning she could set sail in two weeks aboard her 38-foot ketch Guppy.

She must now complete the two-year trip before she turns 17 in September 2012 to break the record.
