Farr 40’s celebrate their 10th anniversary in style
By David Schmidt

It’s hard to believe, but the Farr 40 class just turned 10, and to celebrate, there will be two regattas held in Miami, Florida, during the week of November 27 – December 2, 2007. The first race, held November 27-28, will be a match-racing regatta; the second event, held between November 30 and December 2, will be the official Farr 40 10th-anniversary fleet regatta.

Current Farr 40 Class President, Jim Richardson, who participated in the first Farr 40 class regatta, held in November of 1997 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will be racing in the events aboard his stead, Barking Mad. Skippers William Douglass and Alex Roepers are expected to make appearances on their brand-new Farr 40’s, respectively named Goombay Smash and Plenty; both skippers, it should be noted, have Swan 45’s of the same namesake as their new Farr 40’s. In addition to great racing, there will be social functions, a match-racing seminar, and a dinner.
