Seaward 46

The Seaward 46 sails or powers in less than 2 feet 5 inches of water. Yet it has the stability, seaworthiness, and windward performance of a 7 foot 6 inch drafted vessel that has the ballast mounted at the very lower end of its keel.

The Seaward 46 is available with the Yanmar 75hp or twin Yanmar 54s. Twin engines will offer more speed under power, more control when docking, and redundant reliability and safety.

Dual rudders, besides offering redundancy, allow multiple configurations of depth for more efficient sailing or powering. At the slip, the rudders retract completely out of the water so there is no need for antifouling paint which contributes to added friction and poor rudder performance.

Construction: Hull bottom is made from unidirectional solid fiberglass. Deck is composite divinycell and unidirectional glass. Keel and rudder foils are unidirectional E-glass and carbon fiber. The Keel torpedo is solid lead.

Sailplan: The sailplan includes a fully-battened mainsail with bearing track and double single-line reefing. Roller furling mast is available. Jib sail is self tacking. Roller furling “Code Zero” disconnects and lowers easily into the forepeak sail locker. All furlers, tracks, tackle, and winches are Harken. All controls lead to the aft cockpit for single handed sailing.

Features: The 46RK is equipped with an in cabin helm station with second chartplotter and autopilot controls. Her cabin is light and airy with up to 21 opening ports, and deck prisms for additional lighting. All appliances, hardware, tanks, fixtures, wiring, and plumbing are “Top Shelf”. Icemaker, deep freeze, triple zone air conditioning and generator are available. For “Fisherman Sailors” an equipment package that includes telescoping outriggers/hardtop, swivel captains chair, and large insulated fish box is available.
