The MacGregor 26 is a new design by MacGregor, replacing the 26 that had been in production for many years.
The new boat offers high performance sailing, 24 mph under power with a 60-hp outboard, full standing headroom, and wheel steering. It sleeps 6 in two double and two single berths. One berth is as large as a queen sized bed. There is a full galley, dinette and an enclosed head.
The 26 has a walk-through transom for easy boarding. A hinged steering seat swings in place to close off the open transom for security. 1,150 lbs. of removable water ballast and 300 lbs. of fixed ballast provide the stability of a keel boat. The boat weighs only 2,600 lbs. empty, allowing high powering speed and easy towing behind standard cars. The 26 is just under 8 feet wide for legal towing everywhere. It is the easiest to ramp launch and rig of any of the competing trailerable sailboats.
