Vessel Walkthrough
|
The vessel was built based on the original drawings of the British Admiralty. For the purposes of filming Mutiny on the Bounty, MGM built the vessel 30% larger than the original Bounty to accommodate film crews. The lower deck consists of the crew mess and galley forward with a bulk head that divides the main pubic area that has guest accommodations and smaller watertight areas for tankage and engine room compartments. There is the great cabin aft. |

From 2002/2003 and 2006/2007 Bounty received major refits in all phases of the vessel. In 2002 the lower hull was completely gutted from stem to stern and was rebuilt including all new water tight bulk heads and berthing compartments with all work being done at Samples Shipyard. 2003/2004 saw all new generators, wiring, main engines, underwater gear, all tankage, windlasses , and all rigging either refitted or replaced with many spare parts. In 2006/2007 the topsides were rebuilt from waterline to the main deck with new framing and planking as well as Top side weather deck. She is next to new condition with millions being spent over this refit period to add many years of service to this proud vessel. In 2010 the Mizzen Mast was replaced as well as the shaft logs and shafts were realigned. |

Remarks
|
History runs though the frames of this vessel. From back in 1962 when Marlon Brando and Sir Richard Harris stared in "Mutiny On The Bounty" or in a modern day classic like "Pirates of the Caribbean” there has always been a great interest in Bounty. Her past owners from MGM, which was bought by Ted Turner who then donated the vessel to a nonprofit group in Fall River Massachusetts, to her current owner of the last 10 years, interest has always remained strong. Whether being leased by a major movie production or her very profitable worldwide charter campaign that has brought her to the 4 corners of the earth, everyone knows the Bounty which has made her one of the highest grossing Tall Ships in the world. This is truly a rare opportunity to own a one of a kind that has instant and worldwide appeal for the investment minded buyer, and complete passion for the historian who wants that special and truly unique sailing vessel. |
