The new Speedylock winch handle from Antal may not look particularly revolutionary, but it works incredibly well under sail. It’s a subtle thing, but the long release button on the side of the handle is much easier to use than conventional winch handles. When the wind was blowing dogs off chains during this year’s Cowes Week, the Speedylocks we had on board quickly became the handles of choice. The last thing you want is to have to futz around with a sticky winch handle when you’re grinding in the genoa and are up to your knees in green water! The 10in handles are available with single, double and ball grips.
