These days connectivity is everywhere. From smart appliances to assisted driving, all of our electronics seem to have an app. So it only makes sense that the developers at Savvy Navvy are thinking hard about connectivity onboard as well.

In partnership with the development team at Actisense, the navigation app has announced a new feature that will allow all NMEA-enabled devices to connect and share information directly to your phone. This makes real-time data like wind, depth, engine RPMs, speed through water, heading and more available right in the app. For the skipper off watch and wondering why the boat is making that noise, a quick check on the phone has all the answers at a glance.

“Boaters increasingly seek apps that simplify navigation and enhance onboard intelligence. NMEA Connect combines the proven reliability of NMEA technology with Savvy Navvy’s smart routing capabilities, giving boaters everything they need in one place,” says Misha Vysokovskiy, Chief Product Officer at Savvy Navvy. “For boats without NMEA-compatible chart plotters, Savvy Navvy now becomes your all-in-one display.”

The update also comes with improved AIS functionality, combining onboard and over-the-horizon AIS. And another recent update added a chart annotation tool and three-point-fix to help with sharing information and can be used as a teaching tool.
