The Sea Tow Foundation’s 2026 life jacket loaner program is getting underway. If your community could use a loaner station, here’s what you need to know.

This program, funded through the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund and administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, supports the distribution of life jackets in marine communities. Life Jacket Loaner Stations provide life vests in sizes from infant to adult extra large to be borrowed and shared while enjoying time on the water. All life jackets distributed are USCG approved.

In its 18 years of operation, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed more than 106,000 life jackets via 1,300 Life Jacket Loaner Stations.

“The Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Program allows local organizations to become part of a national effort to make safe boating easy and accessible in every community,” said Executive Director, Gail R. Kulp. “We encourage any interested groups to apply so that we can continue to help make boating a safe and enjoyable pastime in 2026.”

Those interested in getting resources for their community can apply for life jackets and a stand-building kit for a new or replacement station, life jackets to replenish an existing station, or life jackets for recurring events or for agency boats.

The deadline is February 28, and businesses, nonprofits, and agencies are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will receive materials in May.
