When it comes to night sailing, everyone has their own light best practices and preferences. Spotlights, headlamps, red lights, dimmed displays…they’re all part of the arsenal. Another popular option is Streamlight’s Wedge EDC series, a tactical flashlight with. The flashlight is USB-C rechargeable and now comes in more colors so that crews can better keep track of whose light is whose.
The flashlight provides 300 lumens in the regular on-mode, but can also expend a 1,000-lumen THRO (Temporarily Heightened Regulated Output) burst of 35 seconds, which could be used for signaling or longer range visibility. The smaller and lighter XT model packs a punch with 500 lumens for up to two hours.
The original wedge is already conveniently small at just 5.46 inches and 3.3 ounces. It’s also IPX7-rated for waterproofing and comes in orange, green, black, coyote, red, blue, and purple.
