Beginning as a successful composite expert based in Australia, Cure’s work on custom catamarans inspired the launch of the Cure 55, an all-carbon production cat. “Our challenge was to design a product that could cater to the market by offering a performance-oriented cruiser with a standardized specification, one that didn’t require extensive customization yet still met the demands of buyers seeking both high performance and luxury,” said Cure’s David Biggar.

Despite being new to the market, they have high hopes for the appeal of this smart new cat. This boat is designed for passagemaking potential, scaled up from an original 52-foot idea because a longer LOA means better handling in a seaway. With the ability to design for their specific materials expertise, the team was able to come up with something unique that took full advantage of weight and performance benefits of a carbon composite boat.

Big windows between the salon and aft cockpit area allow a sense of flow and airiness to the space, while plenty of seating options and substantial weather protection ensure that this area will be the hangout spot on the boat. Twin helms are located in the same area, aft and slightly outboard for clean sightlines down the sidedecks. Daggerboards help with performance and are positioned outboard of the stanchions for unobstructed movement along the sidedecks. The galley is fully electric and ahead of it is a spacious nav station that any skipper would be very happy to work from. The interior has a stylish warm Scandinavian aesthetic with lots of wood throughout. And though space is at a premium in the hulls, the heads are spacious and creative nooks for storage and features like a washer/dryer make the best use of every inch.
