WELCOME THE BLACK WIDOW

If you’re a racing sailor you want your boat to have an ultra-slick, ultra-smooth bottom paint, and the folks at Pettit claim that’s what you’ll get with its new Black Widow hard antifouling. As well as biocides to deter marine critters from getting up close and personal, the paint contains a mix of four slippery agents—molybdenum disulfide, PTFE, silicon and graphite—to reduce drag. It can be sprayed on or applied with brush or roller and burnished until it shines. Like the spider it’s named after, it comes in just one color—black, of course. $299/gal.
