Instant Electric Winches

The WinchRite ABT (Advanced Brushless Technology) is an improved version of the battery-operated winch handle that has already been sparing sailors’ arms for a number of years. Central to the new model is a brushless drive motor that runs cooler and more efficiently than its predecessor—a single charge should give you at least a dozen mainsail hoists on a 40-footer. Other improvements include a warning chime and “soft start,” whereby it gently spools up to full operating speed to make it easier on an operator’s wrist. The system switches between fast and slow speeds at the flick of a button and charges back up in under an hour.
