Finngulf Yachts has been building quick, sturdy performance cruisers for 25 years, but the company’s new 43-footer is the first to be designed by a well-known firm here in the States. Farr Yacht Design got the commission, and the result appears to be an excellent combination of style, performance, and good old-fashioned Finish sturdiness. The hull and deck are laid up with epoxy resin. The underwater profile is aggressive, but the rudder appears large enough to be forgiving. The accommodation plan is spacious and clean, with plenty of satin-varnished teak. Both on deck and below, the 43 combines the modern with the traditional, and it’s obviously designed to be a blast to sail. This is the first of the redesigned Finngulf line, which should be turning sailors’ heads for years to come.
