Charter Central
Charter Editor Zuzana Prochazka has sailed just about anywhere you could want to go, so her opinion on where to book your next trip is well worth taking. This month the spotlight is on the different but equally spectacular waters of Belize and Greece. In the former you’ll find challenging skinny water and a pageant of fantastic snorkeling, Mayan ruins, and cave tubing (it’s a thing!). In the Med, it’s living history on Greece’s most elusive islands, a remarkable food scene, and more caves—this time on foot.

Vendée Victory
Charlie Dalin, the latest sailor to stand atop the Vendée Globe podium, talks with SAIL about rivalries, routing, and redesigns—plus what it took to win one of the world’s toughest sporting events. His rise to stardom in the offshore grand prix class in recent years has included winning the IMOCA 60 world championship in 2021 and 2022, sailing with first place 11th Hour Racing Team campaign during The Ocean Race in 2023, and scoring line honors in the 2020/21 Vendée Globe.

The Only Solution
On the return trip from a successful Newport-Bermuda Race, Carter Bacon lost his classic 50-foot K. Aage Nielsen sloop, Solution. He recounts the harrowing experience and the decisions made in order to get everyone back to shore without further injury. Bacon received the Cruising Club of America’s Rod Stephens Seamanship Trophy for his efforts that day.
