As most Cup pundits can tell you, things with the AC are “turbulent” at best; others may use stronger adjectives to describe the situation. There is some good news for the America’s Cup Management (ACM) and Alingi, however, as a new Spanish syndicate, Ayre (representing the Real Club Nutico de Denia, has officially presented their challenge to the Socit Nautique de Genve, which has been accepted by the ACM. Also making AC headlines today is the fact that a second team officially challenged, and whose challenge has been accepted by the ACM, but who has requested anonymity until they make their own official announcement. These two entries now bring the total number of challengers up to seven, with the 800-pound gorilla known as BMW/Oracle Racing still waiting on the sidelines for a Supreme Court ruling.
