The advent of soft attachments and robust polymers has sparked a “Golden Age” of snatch blocks, with gear like the new Dynblock from European manufacturer Antal making life afloat easier than ever. The key to this block is a pair of revolving resin cheekplates, with a Dyneema snap loop that runs through both the plates and the sheave. The sheave also doubles as a composite fiber bushing which, along with a pair of side bearings, ensures smooth operation. The blocks come in two sizes, weigh less than 5oz, and can carry safe working loads of 1,300lb or 2,200lb.
