US. Match Racing National Champion Taylor Canfield and his USone team finished 2012 on a high note—with wild-card wins at the last two stops of the Alpari World Match Racing tour—and have more than maintained their momentum in 2013.
In February, Canfield took first place with a dominating victory at the Budget Marine Match Racing Cup in St. Maarten. Then in early March he and his team learned they had won a coveted spot as one of eight Tour Card holders in the 2013 Alpari series, which includes stops in Germany, Korea, Sweden, Chicago, Holland, Bermuda and Malaysia—not to mention $1.75 million in prize money.
“Getting to the tour has been a three-year goal for us, so we’re really pleased to have reached this milestone and the chance to defend our titles from 2012,” said Canfield, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands and sailing director for the Chicago Match Race Center.
