Today marks the start of the 53rd Transpac, offshore racing’s iconic Pacific challenge stretching from Point Fermin, California, to Diamond Head, Hawaii. In three starting waves over the course of the next week, 53 boats will set out for the 2,225 mile open ocean race.
For Transpac Onboard, the race’s new web series, SAIL’s managing editor Lydia Mullan sat down with 11-time race winner, Stan Honey, for his thoughts on the competition ahead. Stan will be competing this year aboard Bryon Ehrhart’s 88-foot maxi Lucky.
