Preparations for the 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition in Rio are already well underway. After choosing the Mackay FX as the official boat for the women’s skiff, the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) announced the remaining event and equipment selections for the next Summer Olympics.
Among the decisions made were the ISAF Council’s choice of the Nacra 17 for the mixed multihull event, and the Council’s vote to replace Windsurfing with Kiteboarding.
“These announcements mark a new era for sailing and we welcome the new classes into the ISAF family,” said ISAF President Göran Petersson.
The new boats will be showcased at the ISAF Sailing World Cup and ISAF Sailing World Championships.
