Pocket Weather Station
The Vaavud wind meter (currently being distributed in North America by Ronstan) is both accurate and truly pocket-friendly, with a compact two-cup durable plastic rotor and low friction PTFE bearings. Easy to pop in and out of your smart phone’s audio jack, it communicates directly with the phone’s magnetic field sensor and measures wind speeds from 4 to 48 knots, which are then displayed via a neat and clean interface showing actual mean and max wind speeds, along with a graphed wind history. The graph also supports drag and pinch-to-zoom functions so data can be viewed in fine detail. Vaavud is working on adding history and map features to the attendant app so users can share wind information with people in other locations. $49.95,
